The Moscow office of Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) announced that it had fined Google LLC 200,000 rubles (USD2,730) for advertising that did not comply with Russian law. Google LLC violated the Federal Law on Advertising by distributing ads of eToro, which does not have a forex dealer license that would allow it to operate in Russia. Advertising (in Russian) violates the law by making incorrect comparisons with services offered by other companies and advertising the services of a company that operates without a license issued by the Central Bank of Russia. This is the fifth such fine for Google LLC in Russia since the beginning of 2021. The company has already paid 800,000 rubles (USD10,920) in fines this year.
